To separate crude palm oil into palm olein and palm stearin, firstly you need get refined palm oil by crude palm oil refining machine, and then through palm oil fractionation equipment, get palm olein(low melting point liquid phase) and palm stearin(high melting point solid phase).

How to get refined palm oil?

1. Degumming is first performed in a degumming tank. Phosphoric acid solvent that should be food grade will be added into degumming tank. Using the hydrophilicity of phospholipids and other peptized impurities, a certain amount of electrolyte solution is added to the oil to make the colloidal impurities absorb water, coagulate and separate from the oil.

2. Secondly, add food-grade NAOH solvent into the deacidification tank. Alkali can neutralize most of the free fatty acids in the crude oil, and the resulting sodium salt is not easy to dissolve in the oil, and becomes floc and settles, so as to achieve the purpose of deacidification.

3. Under high vacuum, high temperature, absorbent will be then added into decolorization tank, using the characteristics of the absorbent with strong absorption force absorb the pigment and other impurities in the hot oil so as to achieve the purpose of decolorization and purification.

4. Use a deodorizing tank to directly strip under high vacuum and high temperature conditions to distill off the gas components in the oil. Refined palm oil can then be obtained. The next step is to separate palm oil into olein and stearin by controlling the cooling and crystallization process of palm oil.

How to separate palm olein and palm stearin?

Using heating-- cooling-- crystalization three steps can separate palm olein and palm stearin. Due to different geographical locations, different countries have different temperature requirements for palm oil fractionation. There are three common palm oil fractionation temperatures: 18°C, 24°C and 36°C, which mainly need the following equipment.

1. One heating tank, two cooling crystallization tanks. There is a thermal oil heating coil in the heating tank, and a cooling water coil in the cooling crystallization tank. The cooling crystallization tank is equipped with a stirrer to ensure that the cooling crystallization process is carried out evenly.

2. Plate filter is used to separate palm soft butter from hard fat. What comes out of the strainer is palm soft fat, which can be poured directly into the soft fat jar. The palm stearin taken from the middle of the filter plate is melted in the lower stearin tank and poured into the stearin tank.

3. One set of air compressor. It is used to generate compressed air to remove remaining soft fat from hard fat.

4. One set of air cooling system is used to make cooling water for cooling crystallization tanks.
